SCI199Y: Short project 1 due October 24

  1. Find (and submit a reproduction of) a data map for Canada, or one of the provinces or territories (excluding weather maps). In one paragraph describe what data is presented on the map and what the source of the data is. In a second paragraph discuss what you think are the strong and/or weak points of the data map. You may wish to, but are not obliged to, include other data maps for comparison to elaborate on paragraph 2.

  2. Find (and submit a reproduction of) a graphic that distorts the information it is presenting. Discuss why, in light of the principles outlined in VDQI.

  3. Find (and submit a reproduction of) a really good graphic. Discuss its qualities with reference to the principles outlined in VDQI.
